Host a Collection Event

Interested in hosting a healthy tissue collection event in your city?

The Komen Tissue Bank (KTB) is the only biorepository in the world to collect healthy breast tissue for breast cancer research. The KTB is part of the IU Simon Cancer Center, and is located on the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis campus.

Some forms of breast cancer are more dominant in people of certain races and/or ethnicities. This means that researchers will need to have access to racially diverse tissue to use in their studies. In order to procure these diverse tissues, the KTB holds collection events in areas of the U.S. that have higher minority populations than in our home state.

If you are a:

  • Researcher or PI affiliated with a pharmaceutical organization or academic medical institution,
  • Breast oncologist, surgeon, epidemiologist or radiologist affiliated with an academic medical institution,
  • Susan G. Komen® affiliate,
  • Patient advocate,
  • Health- and minority-focused community organizer or opinion leader,

or have connections to any of the above, and are interested in having the KTB host a collection event in your city, please review the our event resources and then contact our COO, Jill Henry, to submit your Komen Tissue Bank Collection Event Request Form and to arrange a conversation.
